Whenever Kaizen Tuning makes a visit to Japan, we always make it a point to swing by our friends at Tomei Powered Japan. We make it a point as Tomei practices the utmost in precision assembly and manufacturing, unlike anything we have seen, world wide. The things that happen at Tomei, simply are automotive magic. We have visited the speed shops of many OEM builders, and Tomei surpasses even these in the workmanship they produce. On this last trip to Japan we got a chance to get updated on what is in the R&D pipeline, and see some of what Tomei does to test products before they go to market. No other manufacturer we know of does the type of rigorous testing Tomei does on the products they produce.

Our tour guide was Allen Lorenzo, a friend of many visits of Kaizen sales guys and customer visits to Tomei Powered. We got a tour through the R&D area where they have 2 motor dynos, where all of the testing takes place, before being put in a car and tested further on Tomei's own Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno. Next up was the machine shop where heads are hand ported, cams are CNC ground, and custom machining gets done. The real cherry on top of the tour however was the motor assembly room, where the Genesis and Advanced Spec crate motors are assembled. This room is literally a lab, sealed from the rest of the facility, and temp controlled. The motors are assembled one by one, by one master craftsman. This room, as well as the R&D facility can only be matched by the largest race teams and OEM's.
